Fleshlights are the bestselling sex toy for men by a longshot – Fleshlight has been making top-quality pocket pussies since 1998, with their patented Superskin material nicely replicating the feel of a real vagina. But what lube should you use with a Fleshlight? These toys are notoriously delicate and hard to clean, so you must be careful with your lube choice.
Personally, I’m a big fan of the SLiquid Sassy Lube, but there are many lubricants on the market suitable for one of these toys. Here I take a look at some of the best lubes for Fleshlights and give you some tips on lube safety and Fleshlight cleaning.
Let’s dive in!
7 Suitable Lubes for Fleshlight Toys
Sliquid Sassy Water-Based Lube
Safe for your Fleshlight AND your cock
Best For: Guys with sensitive skin or allergies
Sliquid Sassy is expensive for a water-based lubricant, but it’s comprised of a magnificent formula which gives it a thick consistency despite being water-based. If you suffer from sensitivities, Sliquid Sassy is free from glycerine, parabens, and many other nasty ingredients which can irritate your penis and your sex toy.
This well-made low-risk personal lubricant is also incredibly easy to clean because it’s water-soluble, which basically means that it dissolves into water when you’re cleaning your Fleshlight. In other words, the water washes this lube away very easily compared to more stubborn products.
Many common lubricants, including the US version of water-based KY Jelly, contain harmful ingredients like glycerine which can harm people with skin sensitivities. Propylene Glycol is a similar glycerine alternative found in products like Astroglide Liquid. Our lube guide has more information.
PROS: Free from glycerine and parabens, cruelty-free, safe for all sex toy products
CONS: Expensive
Astroglide Natural Feel Liquid
Astroglide’s triumphant return!
Best For: Avoiding lots of nasty ingredients
I just slagged off Astroglide for their Liquid lube, but their Natural lube is actually much better for your cock and male sex toy products. However, the word “natural” is a stretch because 2 of the ingredients aren’t naturally derived at all. Nonetheless, this product’s formula and slick consistency make it a cheap and ideal companion for your favorite Flesh light.
Astroglide Natural Feel does contain phenoxyethanol, which is currently regarded as safe by the FDA, although there is conflicting data about the safety of its long-term use. Unless you use 100% natural lubricants like coconut oil and olive oil, it’s really hard to find lubes that don’t have at least 1 sketchy ingredient. Damn those pesky lube formulas.
PROS: Slick formula, mostly natural ingredients, water-soluble, affordable price
CONS: 2 ingredients don’t seem to be “natural”
Fleshlube Water Lube
Half-decent water-based lubricant, premium price.
Best For: Making sure you keep your Fleshlight sleeve intact.
Made from mainly water and glycerin, this personal lubricant was designed specifically by Fleshlight for use with their sex toy products... supposedly. Now, that doesn’t necessarily make it the top lube for a Fleshlight, but you can guarantee that it’ll be safe to use with the toy’s sensitive Superskin sleeve material.
I must admit, at $20+ for a bottle of Fleshlube Water, it does feel like you’re paying for a brand name. Water-based lube is the cheapest of all the lubes to produce and there aren’t any magic ingredients to make Fleshlube stand out from the competition – it just happens to be made by Fleshlight as an add-on product.
Consider saving your money unless you really want to support Fleshlight!
PROS: Hypoallergenic, natural ingredients, not tested on animals, designed for sex toys
CONS: Expensive for a water-based lube
ID Glide Natural Personal Lubricant
: Recreate the experience of a real vagina
Best For: Real-feel and easy cleaning
Proudly made in the USA, ID Glide “Natural” is a non-staining water-based lubricant that is thin, slick, and great for pocket pussies. It’s actually designed to complement a woman’s natural vaginal lubrication, so it’s one of the most lifelike Fleshlight fucking experiences you’ll ever have.
ID Glide is often a recommended lube for Fleshlights due to its thin, slick formula which makes it easy to clean out. Just make sure that you’re not sensitive to glycerine or propylene glycol before using this stuff. If you’re fine with those ingredients, this could be the best lube for pocket pussy toys.
Pretty much all water based lubes are compatible with condoms and sex toys, so a decent water-based lube is a great all-rounder for your sex drawer!
PROS: Designed to feel like natural lifelike lubrication, made in the USA, safe for sex toys
CONS: Contains glycerin
Lubido Paraben Free Intimate Lubricant
Cheap and cheerful personal lube!
Best For: Top budget Fleshlight lube
I’ve been using Lubido for a while as it’s one of the cheapest lubes on Amazon, and I personally think it works really well with Fleshlights and a bunch of other men’s sex toys. This long-lasting water-based lube is free form parabens and features a pump to make application easy – just pump some into your Fleshlight and you’re good to go!
As a UK native myself, I’m always happy to support the home team. Lubido is made in the UK, specifically in West Yorkshire which is known for its rolling green hills, peaceful waterways, and quaint stone houses. I like the idea of my lube being made in a picturesque barn surrounded by sheep and daffodils. I’m sure it’s just made in a boring factory, but still.
PROS: Paraben-free, longlasting water-based formula, made in the UK, easy to clean
CONS: Pump can stick, lube contains additives
What Type of Lube Should I Use with a Fleshlight?
What's the point of buying the best Fleshlights if you use lube that destroys them?
When it comes time to choose a lube for Fleshlight toys, you need to stick to water-based lube products. This is because these lubes tend to be thinner, slicker, and easier to wash out than oil-based and silicone-based lubricants. They also provide a more realistic sensation to replicate the penis-vagina sex experience.
Some sources also claim that oil-based and silicone-based lubes destroy the Fleshlight "Superskin" material. However, the Superskin Fleshlight sleeve is made from a special form of TPE which doesn’t normally have averse reactions to silicone or oil-based lubricants.
Basically, every credible source I can find recommends using water-based lubes for Fleshlights. Water-based lube definitely won’t damage the sleeve, it’s cheap, and it’s easy to clean out afterward.
Feel free to try out other lube types, but don’t look at me if your Fleshlight dissolves.
Lube consistency
When it comes to water-based lubes, you have 2 main consistencies – liquids and gels.
Liquid lubes are thinner, slicker, and easier to wash out. They also replicate the experience of fucking a real vagina, making your pocket pussy experience more realistic. Popular water-based liquid lubes include Astroglide Natural Feel and ID Glide Natural. These slick lubes tend to contain glycerine, so watch out for that if you’re sensitive.
Gel lubes, as the name implies, are a lot thicker. While they may not feel as “realistic” in your Fleshlight when it comes to sensation, they do last longer, so they’re the best water-based lube for longer Fleshlight fucking sessions. Popular lubes with a thicker consistency include Sliquid Sassy.
Nasty ingredients
A lot of water-based lubes contain ingredients like glycerine or propylene glycol which can cause bad reactions to lube for some men and women. If you’re unsure about the safety of your lube, try performing a patch test on the inside of your wrist and see whether your skin burns or feels irritated after a few minutes.
If you can find Pure Aloe Vera gel, that would make a brilliant and safe long-lasting lube for a Fleshlight. Unfortunately, it’s difficult to find a 100% pure product without some additives included in the formula. This Organic Aloe-Vera Gel on Amazon is nearly pure and doesn’t have any ingredients that should irritate you.
A lot of people recommend Gun Oil H2O lube for fleshlights, but it has a really long ingredients list, and that always makes me nervous. It’s also one of the most expensive lube brands, so not ideal if you’re on a budget. Still, Gun Oil H2O might be worth a try.
Fleshlight Cleaning Tips
In case you didn’t know, cleaning a Fleshlight is a painful and harrowing experience. You can’t really use soap or detergents, you can’t easily access the inside of the sleeve, and you have to dry it thoroughly to avoid mold growth. Yes, you can get moldy fleshlights if you’re not careful.
How to clean a Fleshlight
Basically, you need to rinse fleshlight sleeves through with water, dislodging any lube or cum with the running water, your finger, or both. You cannot use soaps because they can degrade the Superskin sleeve material, which is very sensitive. Rinse the sleeve thoroughly from both sides with lukewarm water, washing all the lube and jizz out of it.
We show you how to clean a Fleshlight in our how to clean your sex toys YouTube video.
Drying a Fleshlight
Drying a fleshlight is a massive pain in the ass because of the potential for mold growth if you put it away when it’s damp. You ideally need to air out the sleeve in a well-ventilated room for 24 hours. If you don’t have to worry about privacy, simply leave the sleeve out for 24 hours, letting air get to it evenly. Don’t put it in the plastic case until it’s dry.
If you do have to worry about being discreet, there are many Reddit users with Fleshlight drying tips including silica gel hacks, homemade drying racks you can hide in a wardrobe, and my personal favorite the “chopstick/pencil covered in a towel” technique that we show in our how to clean your sex toys video.
Fleshlight aftercare and maintenance
Fleshlight sell "Fleshwash" Antibacterial Cleaning Spray which should help to keep germs at bay after cleaning your toy, though I wouldn’t say it’s essential. They also sell Fleshlight renewing powder which you should apply to your sleeve liberally on a regular basis. The powder helps to maintain the condition of the Superskin material after washing.
Fleshlight renewing powder is literally 100% cornstarch – it’s just been packaged in a convenient manner. If you want to save some money, you could just buy regular ol’ corn starch on Amazon or add it to your next shopping list.
Cum-clusion
I hope you enjoyed this guide to safe Fleshlight lubes! SLiquid Sassy Lube is still my personal favorite for fake vagina toys, but Astroglide Natural Feel and Fleshlight’s own Fleshlube Water certainly have their benefits too. For me, Sliquid Sassy just provides the perfect amount of slickness without being filled with nasty ingredients.
Fleshlights are great men’s sex toys, but they require a lot of care. Be sure to properly clean and maintain your fleshlights, use the correct lube, and most importantly… have fun!
