My 7 Best Flavored Lubricants

My 7 Best Flavored Lubricants – Lube You Can Eat and F*ck With

BY JC Ways

From cotton candy massage oil to bacon-flavored lube, there’s a ton of edible lubricants on the market these days. Flavored lubes are a great way to boost your love life, whether you’re using them for oral sex, vaginal sex, anal sex, or body massage. So, which is the best flavored lube? Which ones contain dodgy ingredients? Are they all safe for vaginal insertion? Here I take a look at the best flavored lubes on the market and give you some basic tips on safe ingredients and red flags to watch out for. Let’s go!

Wanna know where to buy lube? Amazon sells a wide variety of personal lubricants, complete with discreet shipping and customer reviews. LoveHoney is another great place to buy lube online if you don’t wanna get it at your local drugstore/pharmacy.

What Is Flavored Lube?

What Is Flavored Lube

Flavored lubricant is lube you can eat, as well as use for sexual lubrication. Flavored lube should always be edible, though it isn’t recommended to eat it in large amounts – it’s primarily designed for sex, not sustenance.

Many flavored personal lubricants can be used for vaginal/anal sex, but incorporating them into oral sex is obviously their intended purpose. I mean, unless your arse has taste buds, buying flavored lube for anal sex is kinda pointless.

Most flavored lubes are water based lube, meaning that their main ingredient is water. You can also get some flavored lubes and massage creams which are oil-based, though these are much rarer because oil-based lubes destroy condoms. Some flavoured lubes contain ingredients which are not particularly safe for your body. For example, many of these edible lubricants contain glycerine, a sugar alcohol that can lead to yeast overgrowth and increased osmolality in your vaginal or anal tract. Many edible lubes are also flavored with different kinds of sugar, such as glucose, honey, and maltodextrin. These sugars can feed yeast (leading to a yeast infection), disturb the natural flora of the vagina, and dry in a sticky, tacky consistency.

The best flavored lubes will use natural flavorings or artificial sweeteners like aspartame and stevia to minimize the disturbance of your vaginal/anal environment.

Just because a lube markets itself as “organic” or “natural” doesn’t mean that it’s totally body-safe – it may still contain sugars which are potentially harmful once inserted into the anus or vagina. Always be sure to check the ingredients for glycerine, sugars, and other red-flag ingredients like propylene glycol.

From cotton candy to peppermint, I’ve found some of the best toy-friendly edible lubes to use with sex toys, a partner, or solo. Sadly, even some of the best flavored lubes contain nasty ingredients, so I’ve done my best to vet all of these products’ ingredients and choose the safest products I could find for this review!

Sliquid Swirl Cherry Vanilla

Not just 1 flavor, but 2!

First of all, I’d say that the cherry taste in this lube is definitely stronger than the vanilla. It’s that kind of artificial cherry taste that you associate with Cherryade or a cherry-flavored piece of candy. Still, it tastes really good if you’re into that flavor, and the lack of sugar in the formula means that this lube isn’t too sticky when it gets dry.

Sliquid Swirl Cherry Vanilla

Personally, I enjoy using this product for rimming. I put a little on my partner’s backside to give me something sweet to eat while they moan with pleasure from the sensations of my lubed-up tongue. This edible lube is also super great for sensitive skin – my skin flares up at everything but I was totally fine with this product.

PROS: Great taste, free from sugar, no glycerin, water based

CONS: Has a slightly “artificial” cherry taste

Sliquid Swirl Pina Colada

The best cocktail in water-based lubricant form

If you like Pina Coladas, getting caught in the rain, AND having a bunch of sex, you’ve come to the right place! This fun cocktail-themed edible lube from the geniuses at Sliquid combines gorgeous coconut and pineapple flavors together without using a drop of sugar, so this water-based personal lube is totally safe for insertion.

Sliquid Swirl Pina Colada

Like many Sliquid products, the Swirl Pina Colada lube is formulated for women with sensitive skin, designed to never cause vaginal dryness or yeast infections. It’s hence a great option for women engaging in oral and vaginal sex, but not ideal if you’re looking to incorporate your lube into anal play. Still, this is a great-tasting little lube which can be used with toys and condoms safely.

Some people don’t like the strong pineapple-ey smell of this lube, but I think they’re idiots. I’m one of those people who vigorously defends pineapple on pizza, and I’m prepared to defend this lube to the death too. It’s a thing of beauty.

PROS: Vegan formula, no nasty ingredients, delicious taste, ideal for sensitive skin, water based

CONS: Not great for anal sex

System JO Strawberry Personal Lubricant

Add some zing to oral sex!

You’ve heard of organic food, well welcome to the world of organic lube. Yep, this strawberry-flavored personal lubricant from System JO has actually been certified as organic by the USDA (United States Department of Agriculture). To be honest, I didn’t realize that you could officially certify lube as organic, but here we are.

System JO Strawberry Personal Lubricant

This cute little organic lube comes with good ingredients, though I wouldn’t say the strawberry flavor is anything to write home about. Sadly, their flavor options are limited at the moment – the only other System JO flavored lube has a generic vague vanilla taste, so it’s hardly worth a Michelin Star. Nonetheless, when the ingredients are so good, it’s hard to make a strong and pleasant flavor. There’s a reason that all the unhealthy food tastes good.

PROS: Organic, free from glycerine, vagina-friendly

CONS: Needs more flavor options, strawberry flavor is meh

Edible Tingling Nipple Balm

Tingly nipple-licking fun!

In case you didn’t know, it’s totally possible to have a nipple orgasm through nothing more than nipple stimulation. While that’s a stretch for most of us, nipples are still powerful erogenous zones on both men and women, making them an ideal place to tease, pinch, luck, and suck during foreplay. If you want to heighten your nipple sensitivity and keep them moisturized during play with your partner, a flavored tingling nipple balm like this is perfect!

Edible Tingling Nipple Balm

Coming in both Strawberry Mint and Chocolate Mint flavors, the cooling mint is designed to increase the sensitivity of the nipples while allowing your partner to sensually lick and taste your nips for added eroticism! I really enjoy the taste, though the tingling sensation could be stronger. Also, please bear in mind that this product should only be used on the nipples – don’t go putting it inside you!

PROS: Great for nipple play, comes in Strawberry Mint and Chocolate Mint flavors

CONS: Not tingly enough for some people

Coconut Oil

Taking things back to basics

You can use coconut oil for bloody everything – skincare, haircare, cooking, lubrication… Lizzo even named an EP after the stuff. It’s also a great natural lubricant which happens to smell great and be edible. Like all oil-based lubes, coconut oil is not condom-safe and can stain your bedsheets, but it’s a natural product and the ingredients list doesn’t look like the Magna Carta.

Coconut Oil

Granted, the taste of coconut oil isn’t as nice as regular coconut, but it’s still decent. The interesting thing about this natural lubricant is the way that it changes consistency depending on the room temperature. At most room temperatures, this stuff will be completely solid and will only start to melt once it touches skin, which can make for some really interesting sensations as the oil slowly liquifies.

The melting point of coconut oil is around 76 degrees F (24 C), so if you live in a warmer climate, it might be liquid from the get-go. Ideally, your bedroom should be just slightly cooler than the melting point.

PROS: Organic, natural, 1 ingredient, smells great

CONS: Not condom-friendly, can cause stains

Cum-clusion

I hope you enjoyed these flavored lube reviews! Edible lubricants are a brilliant way to spice things up in the bedroom (literally) especially if you’re a fan of romantic, sensual foreplay. Hell, why not go the whole hog and get some whipped cream with strawberries? Your sex life should be fun! However you decide to mix edible substances into your love life, just make sure that you’re using products with safe ingredients that won’t irritate your body. There’s a reason that food goes in your mouth and not up your vajeen. Have fun playing with flavor in the bedroom!
